ALPHA HOUSE CALDERDALE

Alpha House Calderdale is a rehabilitation charity offering support and services for offenders with multiple and complex problems. Rooted in compassion and an understanding of the cycles of addiction, mental illness and social exclusion, Alpha House is committed to breaking the patterns that so often lead individuals back into prison, addiction, or even tragic outcomes such as suicide or premature death. Their comprehensive Residential Rehabilitation and Resettlement programme has been purposefully designed for individuals who have experienced the criminal justice system and are struggling with drug and alcohol dependency, mental health issues, long-term unemployment and a wide range of social and domestic difficulties. The charity’s evidence-based approach is connected to the belief that every individual deserves a second chance and the opportunity to rebuild their life in a meaningful and sustainable way. 

Each individual receives a customised care plan, specially designed to address their unique needs, offering the structure and support required for long term recovery. Alpha House’s individual centred model incorporates group therapy, counselling and dedicated key working, delivering accountability and boosting confidence. These therapeutic services are complemented by 10 accredited educational and behavioural courses delivered in partnership with the Skills and Education Group (QLS). These courses include addiction recovery, relapse prevention, dealing with anxiety, dealing with depression, anger management and conflict resolution, gambling and money management and dealing with offending behaviour. 

The judging panel were particularly impressed by the team of empathetic and experienced professionals, helping clients to find their own solutions one step at a time. These experts are mentors, guides and advocates for each individual’s success, going out of their way to ensure positive progress. The Alpha House staff also demonstrate their expertise through first class quality of care, as well as cultivating a strong sense of community and belonging. Residents become part of a supportive network that encourages healing, accountability and growth. Through structured support, accredited learning and an unshakeable belief in each person’s capacity for transformation, Alpha House Calderdale helps individuals reclaim their independence and rejoin society with dignity.
